A combination of things caused me to reconsider changing my major to Motives. I was learning that even with performers in the entertainment industry, like non-performers, they were more concerned about how they looked rather than how they felt. I wasn't prepared for this reality. I even tried co-hosting events with business partners who were certified in Motives Custom Blend, in hopes to attract more interest. Honestly, I just wasn't gaining the traction I hoped for by using that strategy. It wasn't until after I was pregnant that my mindset shifted. I knew I needed to figure something out so I decided to commit to the 30 faces in 30 days Challenge. I figured if I got comfortable applying make-up to different skin tones and skin types, then there should be no reason for me not to learn Custom Blend.
Here at Motives, we strive to empower people everywhere to look and feel beautiful inside and out and provide people with an opportunity to live the lifestyle they have always dreamed of. I recently interviewed actress, singer and dancer, Christian Lacey. She has incorporated Motives Beauty Brand's products and tools to grow as a mother and business woman. Christian is breaking boundaries with beauty and continues to build her life the way she wants. Way to go, Christian! Thank you for inspiring us and constantly helping women around you to succeed.
How were you introduced to Motives?
I first learned about Motives when my brother was evaluating the business. I had just moved to NYC in 2009 and we were living together. He and his soon-to-be business partners felt I should consider Motives as my primary focus once I was ready to get my UnFranchise started. I thought the pre-made products were beautiful! I was excited to buy them for myself, however, the Custom Blend part was intimidating. Also, I was more passionate about the supplements. I wanted to get Isotonix in the hands of every actor and dancer I knew.
What made you want to learn more and align yourself with Motives Cosmetics?
How have you leveraged the training & events to build your belief to propel your success?
Once I became an UnFranchise Owner, I promised myself never to miss a training opportunity. It was challenging balancing actor life, with full-time job, on top of growing as an entrepreneur. I just knew that as people saw my dedication and efforts to make things work then they would be inspired to do the same. I've gained and lost business partners along the way, however, it's my belief that everything really is going to fall into place. I simply need to keep taking those steps, keep moving forward. Training is so important. Keeping yourself educated on your business just makes sense. Attending events is educational and inspiring. Having the opportunity to hear real people share their stories motivates me to continue on my path.
In what ways has incorporating Motives into your business changed things for you?
What do you feel is the best way to expand your Motives team?
Building a team, I feel should begin the same way as starting any relationship. Listen first. Who is this person? Where are they trying to go? How do they operate? And of course, be sure that both sides communicate their expectations. Set out a plan. Be present. Be fluid because surprises can pop out of nowhere. Be creative and open to outside-the-box thinking. You find the best solutions that way. Growth/expansion is inevitable so simply keep taking steps towards your goals.
What are you most excited about regarding long-term goals?
