Sometimes it feels like there is a ‘day’ dedicated to everything,
but when I come across one that offers an excuse to educate on skin – I’m totally here for it!

On November 7th, 2022 we celebrate the second annual National Retinol Day.
First things first, what is Retinol and why should I care? Retinol is a derivative of Vitamin A and is said to aid in skin renewal by helping to reduce signs of aging; such as lines, wrinkles, sagging skin, uneven tone and texture! Whew! So you can see why it is widely known as an anti-aging gold standard. Many industry professionals will promote retinol and praise it for it’s incredible properties. And of course, as time goes on we get more and more clinical studies that help us maximize the benefits of retinol itself, but also in understanding best practices to optimize results and learning what other ingredients to pair it with to make it even more effective.
That is why I chose to highlight Lumière de Vie® Retinol Crème! The formula is incredible and touted benefits are impressive. With this product, not only are you getting a high-quality Retinol, but it is paired with Ectoin and offers a Poly-Pore 120 RE delivery system. So let’s unpack these ingredients and then touch on the featured benefits!
Retinol
Retinol is the primary naturally occurring form of vitamin A which is a derivative that helps the acceleration of skin’s natural cell turnover. The accelerated cell turnover process helps to liven the skins superficial layer and slough away dead skin cells. It is one of the best known and most effective ingredients for skin care. Retinol has been reported to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, help the skin feel firmer and more supple, and improve the skin’s overall appearance.
Poly-Pore 120 RE (encapsulated Retinol)
Poly-Pore 120 RE is a multi-functional delivery system which provides a sustained release for retinol. The release of retinol is very slow which enables its use at effective levels to help improve stability and reduce irritation.
Ectoin
Ectoin is an organic molecule that occurs widely in nature and has strong water-binding properties as well as antioxidant properties. These properties help ectoin to moisturize and soothe the skin and reduce the appearance of wrinkles.
Featured Benefits:
- Brightens complexion
- Improves elasticity
- Supports a healthy-looking complexion
- Moisturizes & soothes skin
- Reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
