A big trend that I am seeing is the “kitten eye”. It’s nothing new and is essentially a smaller and more subtle version of the cat-eye, and a lot easier to do. Instead of a strong, defined line over the entire eyelid that extends into a sweeping wing, kitten eyeliner is a very thin, short line across the top lash line with a super-subtle flick at the outer corner. 

I think that the kitten eye has gained recent popularity because you don’t feel like you have to apply a full face of makeup as you do with bold eyeliner. Kitten eyeliner will look great on its own, or with just a little mascara.

To achieve this look, use a felt tip eyeliner, such as the Motives Precisely The Point Eye Line, and start at the outer corner, point the tip toward your ear. Then press it down just outside the corner of your eye and drag along your top lid along your lashline toward the center. Once you reach the middle, pick up the tool and do the same thing, this time dragging from the inside of your eye, near the tear duct, and connecting in the center. Since you’re working in sections, there’s less room for error.

It seems that with mask-wearing, everyone got used to wearing a little less foundation. I have also seen a trend where everyone is ditching the filters and real skin is in!!

The reverse cat-eye is exactly how it sounds. Instead of applying your eyeliner to your top lash line, you smudge it along your bottom lash line while creating a smokey reverse wing.

To get this look:

1. Begin by washing the entire lid and crease with “Grit” from the Motives Super Power Mattes Palette

3. With a small detail brush begin by outlining the shape of the reverse liner to be created.

With that being said, it doesn’t mean that you don’t have to do anything. Here’s how to get natural feathery brows.

Determine if your brows start and end in the correct place by doing simple brow mapping. If you need some guidance, check out my Brow Guide. Using a fine-tipped brow pencil, fill in your brows creating hair-like strokes in the direction of your hair growth.

Brush through using a spoolie. If you need help keeping your brows in place, you can use a little brow wax or pomade.

Nothing says fall like an eye shadow palette full of neutrals. You can still get jazzed up with all matte eye shadow and look great for any occasion.

1. Begin by blending “Takeover” shadow and blend slightly above the crease

I have been seeing graphic liner EVERYWHERE! It’s a great way to try something a little different than normal.

2. Taking a liner brush and the color “Feisty” make a liquid liner by mixing some of the shadow with a drop of water. Apply your winged liner
3. Extend that wing by connecting the end of the wing and bringing that line into the crease, Stop about half way 
4. Blend “Level Up” onto the lower lash line
