Father’s Day is this Sunday, and this is the perfect opportunity to give the men in your life the gift he doesn’t even know he needs. He’ll be ecstatic to get anything but a tie! Trust me.
You may be wondering: What could possibly be a gift that he doesn’t know he needs…men’s skincare! Here’s why.
Men Want to Look And Feel Younger!
As of recent, shampoo, deodorant, razors, shaving cream and after shave lotion were the primary grooming products purchased by men.
Over the last couple decades, males have increasingly paid more attention to the health, well-being and appearance of their entire body, the largest part of which is their skin.
Men’s skin care products are flying off the shelves. From high-end moisturizers and facial cleansers to powerful anti-aging products specifically for men.
Nearly all men want to look better and feel younger!
Survey Says
Statistics show that a growing number of men are actively trying to combat anti-aging today in the same way women have been doing for decades.
According to a Mintel study, including over 1000 adult men in the United States, more than 1/3 of adult men in the US care about and actively fight aging. And that number rises even further in adult men with children-a.k.a. DADS!!
Facial skin care and sun protection are also a big deal among men today, with the survey noting an 84% affirmation of the use of facial skin care products among American men aged 18 to 44.
70% of men in the same study said they used sunscreen, a sign of increasing worry about aging in men.
And a study by Tiege revealed that 83% of men aged 65+ agreed that guys need to get serious about taking care of their skin, while just under 60% of guys aged 18-24 said the same thing.
How Much Do Men Really Know About Skincare?
With the differences in the acid mantle, the pH level of the cleansers and topicals becomes an important factor. Products with a higher pH may elevate the overall skin pH and disrupt the acid mantle, which serves as an important protective barrier.
Testosterone also regulates men’s skin. In the epidermis and dermis, it is responsible for increasing the number of granular cells, collagen production and blood flow, stimulating the production of sebum, and toughening hair in the follicle. For any treatment or formula to be effective, it must address sebum, hair growth and sensitivities, as well as the thicker epidermis and a lower pH.
